The HP Series Multi-cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher is designed for high-capacity crushing in demanding aggregate and mining applications. Unlike conventional crushers that rely on single-particle breakage, this machine uses a multi-chamber design that maximizes inter-particle crushing. The result is a more consistent product with improved shape and fewer internal cracks.
This crusher is suitable for secondary, tertiary, and quaternary crushing stages, processing materials from limestone to the hardest granite and river gravel.
The main frame is manufactured using a integrally cast method, eliminating welded joints that can become stress points over time. Four large hydraulic cylinders secure the adjustment ring to the frame. These cylinders provide both clamping force and overload protection.
The main shaft is a one-piece forging made from chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. It is mounted in the frame with a pressed fit and does not rotate during operation. All crushing forces transfer directly through the shaft into the frame, not through bearings or bushings. This creates a rigid load path that withstands high crushing pressures without deflection.
The chamber consists of two wear parts: the mantle (mounted on the crushing head) and the bowl liner (mounted in the adjustment ring). Both are cast from manganese steel that work-hardens under impact, becoming harder as they wear.
The chamber profile is divided into three zones: feed, crushing, and parallel. The feed zone accepts material and directs it downward. The crushing zone applies pressure to reduce particle size. The parallel zone controls product size and ensures consistent gradation. This three-zone design extends liner life by distributing wear evenly across the chamber.
Power comes from an electric motor connected to a countershaft via V-belts. The countershaft drives a bevel gear that rotates the eccentric bushing. The eccentric bushing is machined with a precise offset that determines the crushing head stroke. Heavier eccentric offsets produce larger strokes, ideal for coarse feeds. Lighter offsets produce smaller strokes suitable for fine crushing and sand making.
The eccentric assembly runs in a bath of oil circulated by a external pump. A bronze sleeve bearing supports the lower end of the crushing head, while a thrust bearing carries the vertical load. Both bearings are designed for continuous operation under heavy loads.
The discharge setting is adjusted by raising or lowering the adjustment ring using the hydraulic cylinders. This allows operators to change settings in minutes without stopping the crusher. For clearing, all four cylinders retract simultaneously, dropping the adjustment ring and opening the chamber. This allows blocked material to fall through without manual intervention.
Dust is the leading cause of premature wear in cone crushers. The HP Series uses a multi-labyrinth seal combined with positive air pressure to keep dust out of the oil system. Air from a small blower passes through the seal assembly, creating pressure that pushes dust away from moving parts. This system requires no daily maintenance and remains effective even in dry, dusty environments.
